Japanese Schoolhouse

Castroville, CA
Educational

The Japanese community of Castroville built this 1,400 square foot schoolhouse to teach their children their language and rich cultural heritage. Carey & Co. worked with Monterey County to convert the building into a Cultural Enrichment Center where the youth of Castroville are taught an appreciation of the richness and beauty inherent in the languages, customs and cultures of all peoples. The building received a seismic upgrade, new systems and both exterior and interior refurbishment.
