Manzanar

Manzanar, CA
Park Structures

Manzanar was one of 10 internment camps built during the Second World War to imprison Americans of Japanese ancestry, and is now a National Park. Using historic photographs taken by inmate Toyo Miyatake, measurements of the remnant concrete foundations, three original tower joints rescued from a firewood pile, and a partial specification, Carey & Co. designed a faithful, award-winning reconstruction of the tower.
