Pier 29 Fire Damage

San Francisco, CA
Civic

Pier 29 is comprised of two parts – a utilitarian Shed constructed in 1917, and a Neo-Classical Bulkhead constructed in 1918. Fire struck the Bulkhead portion on June 20, 2012, leaving it badly damaged. Carey & Co. served as Preservation Architect to reconstruct the building envelope including the stucco walls, wood windows, metal roll-up doors and roof. We also consulted on interior work for conformance to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards.
