SFPUC Groundwater Survey

Environmental Review | Evaluations & Nominations | Planning

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s Water System Improvement Project involves a broad range of projects varying in size and complexity covering all aspects of the city’s water system. The Regional Groundwater Project involves water resources located south of San Francisco. As part of the California Environmental Quality Act and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the project’s environmental review required analysis of potential impacts to historic resources. One prominent historic property was the Golden Gate National Cemetery where two well facilities were being proposed. Carey & Co. evaluated a total of 20 sites for their historic significance and potential impacts from the proposed groundwater projects.
