Community & Recreational | Domes | Park Structures

Designed by the Reid Brothers and constructed in 1898 as part of the Midwinter Fair in Golden Gate Park, the Spreckels Temple of Music consists of a central bandshell with two flanking colonnades, each with 16 Ionic columns. Carey & Co. prepared construction documents for earthquake repairs and seismic stabilization following the Loma Prieta earthquake. Conservation included extensive sandstone, terra cotta, and marble cleaning and restoration. The project also included the review and assessment of proposed seismic upgrade schemes, building systems, and accessibility.
