San Francisco, CA
Civic | HSR

Designed by Arthur Brown, Jr., and constructed in 1932, The War Memorial Veterans Building is the twin of the adjacent Opera House. Carey & Co. serves as the project’s preservation architect on this $95 million rehabilitation currently under construction. The project includes exterior repairs to the building envelope including terra cotta with a granite base, and seismic upgrade, new building systems, reconfiguration of some spaces, and upgrades for accessibility and sustainability. Carey & Co. prepared a Historic Structure Report, prepared construction documents for all historic interior materials, and reviewed the entire project for conformance to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
